To celebrate the successful completion of Initial: Livre De L'eleve 2 we went to T.G.I. Friday's. I know what you are thinking and that's just what I thought. But it's a lot less horrible than in the States and a lot more expensive (relatively speaking). And they serve Kim Chi if you ask for it. That's all. I'm still alive.
Ok, thought about it. It's a movie (still talking about Kill Bill, Volume 1) that in it's mentality reminds me of fancy "Artists Lofts" in Tribecca or Soho. Those lofts are very expensive and decorated with things that look very much like "art" and there is a strange utilitarianism to the design. There usually are less utilitarian but very "creative" elements, too. So, tese lofts are just like artist's studios, except really expensive, devoid of art and creative processes of any kind and, of course, devoid of artists.
It's become a daily habit for me to stop at the local Video store on my way home and ask for some movies. These movies are usually not available. And usually I simply leave. But tonight I had promised to bring a movie and so I couldn't just give up. Amazingly, they neither stock Korean DVDs that are older than 2 years nor new releases nor classics. (Very peculiar assortmebnt indeed: they don't have Sex and the City because that might not be commercially successfull. They do, however, carry Dogville).
On a positiv note: Gentz bakery makes really excellent tapioca buns. Very airy, yet chewy consistancy, flavored and enritched with sesame and walnuts, sweet peas and red beans (the beans, not the paste).
