This morning I was greeted by a dead mosquito in my fridge. Good morning, she said, I died of Japanese Encephalitis. At least that's what I understood.....

Actually, envision the whole picture a lot more blurry, slightly distorted and clearer in the foreground.
Acurate depiction is very hard. Sorry.

Three Korean nurses standing around me today. Staring. The designated speaker adressed me. The others stare and giggle. "Ippoyo--you---nun----very beautiful-----(Korean apparently describing the shape of my eyes)" Murmur from the other nurses. Staring. I compliment back:" you are also very beautiful" I wonder if they believe me, they just did an eyetest and my vision is an uncorrected -6. "Miguk saram?" I do the "omma dogilsaram" excuse, witch get's them talking to each other a little bit. Charming ladies, don't get me wrong. But where is the doctor?
By the way, here is why I decided to go: compare the 2 pictures. The one with the dirt is approximately the way I see things. And it's not getting better.

Later that day I got a chance to scare my students with my supersized right pupil. But there really wasn't much they could do for my vision. They'll be able to help me once the retina is detatching, so I should come back when the dark veil falls.

I have made the shocking discovery, that Koreans do a yearly anti-parasite routine, by swallowing a pill called Zentel. In other countries you take a pill like that if there is a reason to assume you have parasites. Actually, same thing here: If you live and eat here-- you can assume.
The good news is it is over the counter and an unheard of bargain at only 500 Wan. I confirmed with a trusted vet who reassured me that a treatment like this is customary with young dogs as well. I feel better already.

It's been about 3 weeks since I first noticed the slight vibrationssomewhere around my right hip and frequent numbness in my right foot. I had my own theories: Maggots who mistakenly assumed me dead, an alien rectal probe gone wrong, a cellphone somebody had accidentally implanted while I was sleeping, etc.
Mr Choi found it to be an excellent sign and attributed it to bad energy exiting the body. Who am I to doubt the master, so I just kept quiet. But amazed at the amount of energy leaving my body and the coinciding headaches I mentioned it again today. Exercise and tea was recommended. Encouraged I went a step further and consulted Choi on another issue. I had discovered during last weeks headache (right side, seemed to have set my eyeball and all surrounding cavities on fire) that my right pupil is smaller than the left.
Choi looked me straight in the eye, agreed and made the diagnosis: "Beautiful!" It certainly feels good to be appreciated.....

Arbor day has come and almost gone. Got lost in the mountains around our fortress, but eventually made it out. I figured, if I just followed the chanting, I'd get to the temple and ask for directions. I found the temple alright, but the chanting came from a tapeplayer and all the monks appeared to have left several years ago.
My new favorite name is Normal. Jo Normal. But I am still open to suggestions.
