Everybody's going to India. My host is there currently, my hairdresser just returned, Madelon is still there, Else is going there....
Maybe that's what inspired me to buy Black Henna. I wanted to dye my hair last night, but I still have not finished reading the CAUTION!s and instructions. So how do I heat water without having it touch metal?

When I left the house this morning the air froze inside my lungs and my tongue got stuck to the roof of my mouth. Or almost. It's cold and my 4% cashmir luxury socks from Century 21 do disappointingly little to protect my feet. I'll really be in trouble when I have to leave this place that is filled with an aboundance of nice clothes....
Better do an inventory, I still have 3 days.

It is much less of a ripoff than I thought, I won't go into detail, but I'll be here another few weeks. Living East Village style (no sink in the bathroom, etc.). Saw a video today, two old friends of mine, fighting on the street. I should give them a call.

New York seems a little less vibrant than it was when I was living here. That makes a lot of sense of course, because I was one of the more vibrant things around. The grocery store situation is abominable, still ripping people of and less organized than ever. Is it my imagination or have the rats gotten both more audacious and more numerous? I really want to stay a bit longer, Busan can wait. Tomorrow I'll check out a sublet in the East Village. Bound to be a rip off, right?

Slowly recovering from last nights debauchery. All frogs digested, but I still have a slight durian hangover, I think. I wore a red fur hat today (mainly because it suddenly got REALLY cold) and everybody was nice to me and wanted to make converstation, strangers I mean. Turned out they thought I was an actress.
Read a sad story about a muslim girl in Harpers. Such a great magazine, if I had an address I'd get a subscription.

I finally made contact with the outside world, or at least with Else. It turned out to be an evening of culinary surprises. I enjoyed durian, which I think made my eyes hot and my brain excited, harmless ham, which was what you'd expect it to be. But the Sizzling Frog Casserole topped it all. Quite challenging to eat, with all the little frogbones stuck in the meat. Reminded me of the Triplettes of Belleville.
